This morning I got to the Apple Store in London's Regents Street at 07:10am, to be greeted with a line of over 50 iPhone addicts already eager & waiting. As the clock ticked steadily towards 0745am more joined the throng in high spirits, making the line go around the corner. OK the line was not as long as the last few times, but still reasonable.
Soon after, I was joined by Press & Camera crews all ready to record the launch story. Then at 0750am the doors were opened to applause & cheers from the waiting Genius & Store staff and the line streamed in.
About 10 minutes later the first happy iPhone 3G S owner emerged...
Richard James (pictured here) was immediately interviewed by the waiting press and was more than happy to pose with his new device.
I have also had reports that there were lines at O2 shops as well as other outlets such as The Carphone Warehouse.
So taking the UK as a thermometer, I would say that today is a WARM iPhone day! and Apple can have this down as another great launch and a job well done.

BTW Even walking around London at lunchtime, I have passed several O2 shops with small lines inside them (10+ folks) and all are showing signs that state they are... "All out of iPhone3G S, but more are coming in soon". Ian |
