ROAM, Inc., the leading mCommerce Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) provider, today announced that TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company is the first retail customer to integrate ROAM’s software developer’s kit (SDK) in itsTaylorMade Performance Labs (TMPL). TMPL, with custom fitter locations, will use the ROAMpay API of the SDK in their in-store application to help customers get the best size and fit golf clubs.
ROAM’s SDK, receiving great interest since its introduction on July 30, greatly simplifies the integration of card-present mobile payments into applications for iPhones, iPads and Android devices. As a result, TaylorMade and many third-party developers of mobile applications can now readily leverage ROAM’s market-leading mobile commerce technology platform to build secure m-commerce applications.
ROAM’s developer kit features “user management tools” that support mobile commerce-based apps development for a range of applications including invoicing, accounting, and retail point-of-sale. The mobile commerce manager tool kit, which includes swiper and payment API as part of the mobile commerce manager, ensures that developers comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards. ROAM’ s platform encrypts sensitive card information via hardware at the point-of-swipe. As a result, card data never goes beyond the retailer and payment card processor.
“We are thrilled to integrate ROAM’s easy-to-use SDK, particularly ROAMpay into our TMPL centers across the country. ROAMpay helps TMPL to create the best possible customer experience and peak performance,” said Todd Fraser, Global Director of Business Development for TaylorMade.
“We are delighted to name TaylorMade as our first SDK customer and look forward to hearing more about how we can help TaylorMade,” said Ken Paul, CEO of ROAM. “The overwhelming retail reaction to our new SDK can be attributed to our encrypted mobile swipe technology and network being second to none. We believe that combining these assets with ROAM’s new SDK provides the essential tools and support to help TaylorMade build that next market-changing mobile commerce app for the tablet, iPhone or Android device.”
He noted that ROAM recently launched a platform to support near-field communication (NFC), critical to the evolution of mobile payments. NFC is a set of standards for smartphones and other mobile devices to enable radio communication between them by simply touching the devices together or putting them in close proximity. NFC supports contactless-payment transactions, “service discovery” to enable consumers to pull information and ads of interest from merchants, and peer-to-peer data transfer.
ROAM’s developer kit includes:
- ROAM Card Swipers for development and testing.
- The ROAMpay Swipe application programming interface for card swiper.
- ROAMpay API for ROAM commerce platform.
- ROAMpay API for boarding merchants on the ROAM commerce platform.
- Test Account to develop and test applications.
- Documentation and samples for iOS and Android.
- Developer support resources, including phone and e-mail support.
