Have you ever spent hours on a project or assignment, only to save it and then lose track of where it wound up on your computer? We’ve all been there. Rather than spending more of your time re-typing or re-doing what you just completed, there’s a few easy ways to figure out where that file wound up. If you’re on Windows 7, hit the Start key and you’re automatically placed in a search box. Type in the file name and it should pop it up. For older versions of Windows, open Windows Explorer and use the Search feature there. If you’re on a Mac, hold down the Apple Key and hit Spacebar. This brings up Spotlight, which is good for a whole ton of things. In addition to helping you find that missing file, Spotlight also enables you to open entire programs, in addition to serving as a calculator, dictionary and more. Type in whatever you’re looking to do and you’re on your way to productivity!
