NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/14/12 -- InterNetwork Broadcasting, the parent company of Blurt, the app that lets you record and share 10-second audio updates with the world, today announced that John McConnell has joined its leadership team in further development of the app. John will focus his efforts on new content and distribution partnerships and overall business development. Blurt, which is currently available in beta for iOS and Android devices, lets users record, review and share voice messages called "Blurts" privately with friends and family, or publicly with the entire world.
John brings more than 23 years of experience in radio broadcasting and digital media to his new role with Blurt. He is currently the President of McConnell Media LLC and also serves as President of Benchmark Entertainment.
Until November 2008, John was SVP of Programming for the ABC Radio Networks and managed programming for ABC Music Radio, ABC News Radio, ABC Talk Radio and the ESPN Radio Network. He managed a number of broadcast assets that generated several billion dollars in revenue during his tenure at ABC and also created and/or managed a number of very successful programs including The ESPN Radio Network, ABC News Radio, The Sean Hannity Show, Radio Perez, The Mike Huckabee Report, The Satellite Sisters, Paul Harvey's News and Comment, America's Most Wanted with John Walsh, the Michael Baisden Show and American Country Countdown. John has received numerous broadcast and journalism awards and has been recognized four times by the industry publication Radio and Records as its "News/Talk Executive of the Year."
"John boasts an impressive track record in radio broadcast and digital media, and his experience will surely enhance our efforts to bring an audio experience to text-based social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter," said Clark Burgard, Blurt co-founder. "We're thrilled to welcome him to the Blurt team."
The Blurt app allows users to express themselves with the authenticity and emotional richness of their own voice. They can quickly and easily bring experiences, such as vacations, birthday celebrations and holidays -- or just everyday happenings -- to life for followers near and far.
"Social media is constantly evolving, and Blurt's unique addition of voice and audio to the space may very well change the game as we know it," said John McConnell regarding his new role. "I'm excited to help position Blurt for future opportunities and contribute to the app's success."
Blurt is now available in beta to iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Android users, free of cost, in the Apple App Store or in Google Play. For more information about Blurt, please visit www.BLURTcast.com.
