LONDON, November 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Sage Pay, the UK's leading payment gateway today announced its partnership with the BBC Children in Need to enable donations to be made via a mobile device app.
BBC Children in Need is a long standing UK charity, providing grants to projects throughout the UK, centered around disadvantaged children and young people.
This new partnership will allow BBC Children in Need to take advantage of Sage Pay's payment technology to enable donations via the innovative new Children in Need app, iPudsey as well as providing interactive games and celebrity voice recordings.
Sage Pay's CEO Simon Black commented "Sage Pay is delighted to support BBC Children in Need. Mobile commerce is growing rapidly and our technology makes mobile payments simple, fast and secure. The iPudsey app is innovative, and we're confident that with Sage Pay's help, BBC Children in Need will reach a new audience on their smartphones."
Sarah Monteith, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at BBC Children in Need said, "We are thrilled to introduce our first mobile app, offering users another way to engage with the charity and help raise vital funds, to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. We are delighted to have Sage Pay on board as one of our official technology partners."
The app takes the user to a fully customised Sage Pay payment page to make a donation. The payment page is hosted securely by Sage Pay and fits seamlessly within the app's design without impacting the customer experience.
Sage Pay has supported BBC Children in Need by contributing towards the mobile app's development costs, and has committed to offer free services for all donations processed.
The mobile app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch now at http://www.itunes.com/appstore and is also available on Android.
The app has been developed by Sage Pay partner and digital agency, Weapon 7.
