At RSNA 2012, CoActiv (Booth # 7303) debuts Exam-Essentials Plus, a sophisticated, robust addition to its popular Exam-Essentials line of turnkey PACS solutions that enable growing medical practices to transition easily and affordably to complete digital imaging workflow. Like the original Exam-Essentials products, the new offering provides complete, affordable, and easy to use and install technology requiring no special internet connectivity.
New Exam-Essentials Plus is a customer driven natural evolution of CoActiv’s original entry level product suited both for sites adding EMR applications and adopting a more sophisticated electronic workflow that extends beyond a simple DICOM viewer and for smaller multi-physician or specialty practices that offer multi-modality imaging in a variety of use cases. The original offering is the choice for practices with a low to medium imaging volume that require more modest digital image management capabilities. Both Exam-Essentials offerings overcome the price and ongoing maintenance barriers that have traditionally discouraged such practices from converting to a PACS.
Exam-Essentials Plus includes all required hardware and software, with no additional set up fees or hidden charges. It is a simple, yet sophisticated plug-and-play solution. As a practice’s imaging needs expand, the Exam-Essentials family offers an easy and economical upgrade path to the enterprise-wide power of CoActiv EXAM-PACS®, the company’s flagship full-featured PACS utilized by hundreds of radiologists nationwide.
All Exam-Essentials solutions deliver state-of-the-art image viewing tools, from window/level and zoom to advanced region of interest (ROI) viewing, multiple image overlays, annotation and more. The applications also provide a multitude of system defaults, customizable by users, modalities and workstations.
Along with full-featured radiology workflow, Exam-Essentials Plus offers optional specialized functionalities for use in other imaging specialties such as orthopaedics. The system is cloud ready for instant plug-in to CoActiv’s off-site archiving, which supports web-based image distribution with the addition of the CoActiv zero-footprint viewer. An optional HL7 feed also provides integration with RIS or EMR applications.
Exam-Essentials Plus is complete a hardware/software bundle. All configurations include EXAM-PACS software, a robust network-ready server platform with substantial RAID 5 storage and an auto backup system.
“Exam-Essentials Plus fills an important unmet need in the marketplace,” comments Ed Heere, president and CEO of CoActiv. “While the purchase and maintenance of a large PACS require a significant budget, the benefits of digital imaging are enormous. This technology enables medical practices with relatively modest imaging volumes, particularly those beyond radiology, to enter the digital imaging age.”
