Dr. Abraham, a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon and surgical director of the Children's Heart Center at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital performed his 100th and 101st heart surgeries on two young patients from Mongolia suffering from congenital heart defects, whom without surgery would not have survived their condition. Dr. Abraham's generous time and skill set is in conjunction with the hospital's 12-year partnership with Samaritan's Purse.
"Quite honestly, I am humbled by the recognition and appreciation. I am happy to play a small role to improve the quality of life for the children and peace of mind for their families," said Dr. Abraham.
Founded in 2000, the International Pediatric Heart Surgery Project is committed to the mission of advocacy and care for the poor, providing life-saving heart surgery for children from impoverished areas such as Bosnia, Kosovo, Mongolia, Honduras, Kenya and Haiti, according to a release from St. Vincent Health. The program works with volunteers, local churches and organizations such as Samaritan's Purse to provide transportation, visas, host families, interpreter services and other needs while the patients and families are in Indianapolis, the release stated.
"Dr. Abraham has a long standing commitment to helping impoverished and disadvantaged children. It's certainly fitting that he is appropriately recognized for his charitable work. All of us at iSALUS Healthcare are proud to celebrate this achievement. Dr. Abraham continues to be a terrific business partner, mentor and friend to our Company, and we are happy to see others recognize his character and integrity," said Michael Hall, founder and CEO of iSALUS Healthcare.
