Prevention is better than cure. For many this is a cliché-ridden saying, but there is a whole lot of truth in this it; why waste money on curing a certain medical condition, when you can prevent. What's more, you can now give mobile power to your efforts at prevention and improving your health.
Nowadays, various smartphones, such as an iPhone, help users take care of their health easily through a variety of iPhone apps available on the iTunes store. Let's take a look at the top five iPhone apps, which take care of your well-being.
ZocDoc - Doctor Appointments Online!
ZocDoc is a simple yet handy app, which helps you fix appointments with doctors easily. Use it to find doctors in your vicinity and book appointments with them in easy to use steps. All you need to do is run this app and enter your zip code and insurance. That's it. After doing this, you will be able to see a list of doctors and when are they available and click on any of them, to book an appointment. Didn't I tell you it is easy!
Medscape
Medscape is one of the leading medical resources used by various physicians, medical students, nurses and other healthcare professionals to obtain specific medical information. You can use this app to obtain the latest medical news and critical alerts, use it to get detailed information about various drugs and supplements prescribed to you and save your ‘drugs list' for easy access.
Additionally, you can view over 4000 medical articles (along with images and videos), which are authored by experts in the medical profession.
WebMD
WebMD is a comprehensive healthcare app, which helps you take care of your health in a number of ways by providing round the clock access to health information and support tools. Some of its useful features include but are not limited to - Symptom Checker, Drugs and Treatments, First Aid Information and Local Health Listings. Additionally, you can opt to personalize your app by saving your drug lists, treatments, health conditions and important articles.
But, all these features aside, I would personally recommend this app to you for its ‘Pill Identification Tool' which helps you identify prescribed drugs and over the counter medicines and ‘Local Health Listings' - which lets you find nearby physician, hospital and drug stores based on your current location. Handy app, isn't it?
BGluMon - Blood Glucose Monitor

The app provides auto-scaling logarithmic charts for both low and high glucose observation, and you can use them to track your glucose levels on daily, weekly, monthly or on annual basis. This app is especially beneficial for diabetic patients.
