Passbook Integration Added to Coupons.com Mobile App

Coupons.com, the recognized leader in digital coupons, today announced an Apple Passbook® integration feature in its popular Coupons.com mobile app. The new Coupons.com app version 1.3 for iOS allows shoppers to easily save coupons from leading national retailers directly to Passbook. Coupons are available for discounts at dozens of top national retail chains, including Best Buy, Coach, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Office Depot, among others. Shoppers now no longer need to clip or print out offers prior to heading to the store, rather they can simply browse available offers in the Coupons.com app, save them to Passbook with one-click and show the offers on their phones at checkout in the store for instant savings. The Coupons.com app is free.

“Consumers are increasingly demanding the convenience and immediacy that mobile enables,” said Steven Boal, CEO of Coupons.com Incorporated. “The Coupons.com app, along with Passbook, gives consumers digital coupons they can save right on their phones with the convenience of getting them whenever, wherever they are—at home, at work, on the go or in the store.”

Simple to Use

Users of Passbook-enabled phones simply select the Offers tab in the Coupons.com app to browse available national chain offers, click the Add to Passbook button for the coupons they want, and then show the discount offers in Passbook at check out.

Each Passbook “coupon” includes a description of the offer (such as “Save up to 20% on your entire order”), the expiration date, and a scannable barcode. An “information” button at the bottom right corner of the offer provides instructions for cashiers on how to process the coupon (including a numeric code that can be manually typed into the cash register if the barcode is not scanning automatically) and additional information (such as purchase requirements).

Users of iOS 6, who prefer not to download an application, can access these Passbook-ready coupons by visiting www.coupons.com via their mobile web browser. The coupons can also be accessed using the Coupon Codes tab on www.coupons.com from any web-enabled device for printing and redeeming at the store.

Passport-Ready Coupons

The Coupons.com app includes approximately 50 high-quality retail saving offers from dozens of top national stores, including: Best Buy, Coach, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Hallmark, Home Depot, JCP Nordstrom, Office Depot, Sears, West Elm and more. New retailers and offers are added frequently. In addition, the Coupons.com app provides thousands of printable coupons for savings at local businesses—from drycleaners to dog walkers. These local coupons are accessible via the Offers tab alongside the Passport-ready offers.

“Coupons.com has put together an outstanding gallery of Passport-ready coupons, so shoppers don’t need to visit multiple websites in search of the best deals,” continued Boal. “And, we give on-the-go shoppers the flexibility of using our Coupons.com app or their mobile web browsers to access the savings. We’ve even made the offers available for shoppers who do not have iOS 6 but who want to print the retailer coupons and take them into the store.”

Sample offers include:

  • Office Depot. Save $10 off purchase of $50 or more. Expires 12/15/2012
  • Carter’s. Save $10 off purchase of $50 or more. Expires 12/26/2012
  • Best Buy. Save up to 30% off select HDTVs and free shipping. Expires 12/31/2012

The Coupons.com app also features a Coupons tab that provides hundreds of coupons for saving on everyday grocery, drug and mass items. Users can print directly to supported HP printers or email them for printing at another device. The app includes a Savings Card tab that allows users to digitally load coupons directly to their store loyalty card and the savings are deducted automatically at check out. DevOps tends to focus on the relationship between Dev and Ops, putting an emphasis on the ops and application infrastructure. But that’s changing with microservices architectures. In her session at DevOps Summit, Lori MacVittie, Evangelist for F5 Networks, will focus on how microservices are changing the underlying architectures needed to scale, secure and deliver applications based on highly distributed (micro) services and why that means an expansion into “the network” for DevOps.
How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happens, where data lives and where the interface lies. For instance, it's a mix of architectural styles ...
