LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/05/12 -- Beeline Interactive, Inc., a leading developer and publisher of video games, and Sony Pictures Consumer Products today announced the development of "Ghostbusters," a new freemium game for smartphones based on the Ghostbusters series of films.
The game, which is expected to be available in early 2013, puts the player in the role of a fledgling Ghostbusters franchisee. When New York is once again infested with paranormal activity, it is up to the player's team of neophyte Ghostbusters to clear out every last spook, spirit, and specter!
"We're very excited to be bringing this beloved franchise to smartphone players around the world," said Midori Yuasa, CEO, Beeline Interactive, Inc. "Ghostbusters offers a rich, exciting and otherworldly universe that we hope to expand and complement with our smartphone and tablet game."
"Beeline has a proven track record and has been a leader in developing and publishing top-rated game apps," said Mark Caplan, Vice President, Sony Pictures Consumer Products. "Given our ongoing relationship with them on Smurfs' Village, they are the perfect partner to carry forward the success of Ghostbusters in the interactive space."
Armed with an arsenal of proton packs and ghost traps, players will be able to upgrade their gear by running experiments, capturing ghosts and acquiring all-manner of strange and exotic slimes. Better gear will give the player access to higher paying jobs and more prestige that they can then invest back into their business. Players will also be able to upgrade their employee roster to create a crack team of specter stomping Ghostbusters.
"Ghostbusters" is the newest addition to Beeline's growing library of freemium mobile games which has included "Smurfs' Village," "Snoopy's® Street Fair," "Monster Pet Shop," and "Zombie Cafe" to name a few. Smurfs' Village has ranked as the number one top-grossing app in 79 countries and consistently ranks as a top-ten grossing app worldwide on Apple's App store. "Smurfs' Village" regularly maintains a user review rating of 4 1/2 stars or higher on the U.S. App Store.
