TIME magazine published its list of the top 10 gadgets of the year, and the iPhone 5 came out on top. The list also includes other goodies Apple users love, but there were some surprising omissions as well. The magazine praises the iPhone 5 as “melding hardware, software and services so tightly that the seams fade way.” In doing so, TIME says “Apple still has no peer,” in the smartphone market. Coming it at No. 6, TIME says the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display is a “joy to use.” The No. 9 spot goes to Nest, the intelligent thermostat created by former Apple executive Tony Fadell. The magazine says “rarely has anything so mundane been so engaging.” Microsoft’s new Surface with Windows RT is also on the list. The laptop/tablet combination device is ranked No. 7. Apple’s new iPad Mini and fourth-generation iPad failed to make the list.
