VANCOUVER -- (Marketwire) -- 12/12/12 -- Fairmont Pacific Rim becomes a leader within the hospitality industry by implementing digital devices and using the latest technology in the daily operations of its iconic downtown Vancouver hotel, offering guests an unsurpassed level of service at the touch of their fingertips.
Behind the scenes, the Housekeeping team at Fairmont Pacific Rim will start off the New Year, utilizing the REX (Room Expeditor) system by MTech on iPod touches to complete their daily tasks. Each team member is provided an iPod touch allowing housekeeping, Royal Service, Engineering and Front Desk team members to become immediately updated with guest requests and room status. The app, which is icon driven, allows the team member to access many features including guest preferences, video and photo instruction, automated room list tasks, and daily productivity tracking; creating an efficient, immediate and paperless work day.
Wine list goes digital -- The Lobby Lounge and ORU will offer wine and cocktail lists via iPads. When 'wining and dining' in either location, guests can access live wine inventory, including label images, information on the various wine regions and chef-recommended food pairings to compliment the wine selection. In addition, hotel sommelier, Jill Spoor includes monthly sommelier picks of some her new (and old) favourites. The app, 'Tastevin,' allows guests to browse, select and order their bottle right from the app. "There are so many incredible opportunities with this app" comments Spoor. "We now have the opportunity to educate and give our guests an extensive wine experience all at the touch of a fingertip."
Yes, Chef! iPad 2 devices are now part of all four hotel kitchens -- The Fairmont Pacific Rim culinary team is taking technology to new heights with iPad stations throughout the hotel's kitchens, allowing the team access to a large photo gallery of dishes, chef instructions and preparation details. In addition, if a guest wishes to receive a recipe for one of their favourite dishes, with a quick tap, recipes can be emailed and shared within seconds. "With three food and beverage outlets with all of their own unique identities, and a banquet kitchen that services 15,000 sq ft of function space, the iPad stations will allow consistent instruction and execution of the dishes. Our team is very excited to implement this next level of dining," comments executive chef, Darren Brown.
ORU takes the 'Chef's Table' experience to a new level -- ORU restaurant will be lighting up the culinary stage as cameras are placed within the open-concept kitchen, providing a live feed into the world of a kitchen brigade. Guests will experience an up-close-and-personal culinary presentation as the feed is projected onto a high-definition flat-screen TV in the restaurant.
Ice, Ice Baby -- Launched this summer, Fairmont Pacific Rim became the first hotel in Canada to implement ICE (Interactive Customer Experience) by Intelity on iPad 2 devices throughout all of its 377 guestrooms. More than just a virtual concierge, the award-winning ICE technology allows guests to customize their stay and interact with all areas of the hotel. Within seconds, a variety of guest requests can be met using the iPad 2 -- from accessing guestroom controls, restaurant reservations, ordering in-room dining, spa treatments, valet parking, and much more. In addition, the downtown Vancouver, BC hotel just launched an ICE Mobile app that will allow guests to download the app from iTunes prior to their arrival.
Located in the heart of the historic port and financial district, the Fairmont Pacific Rim fronts one of the city's most celebrated streetscapes with unobstructed views of the North Shore Mountains and Harbour. This ultramodern downtown Vancouver hotel features a resort-style Willow Stream Spa, state-of-the-art technology and eclectic culinary offerings. Guests can experience a culinary journey around the world with three different dining destinations within the hotel -- Italian-inspired Giovane café + winebar, the Lobby Lounge with nightly live music, and locally sourced cuisine with a Pacific Rim flare at ORU Cuisine. Rated as Vancouver's only Gold hotel by Condé Nast readers, Fairmont Pacific Rim is the journey and the destination.
