LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/12 -- The nation's premium healthy smoothie and juice bar franchise, Robeks, is expanding its footprint in Connecticut.
The smoothie franchise's first store opened in Connecticut in 2004, and it currently operates 11 in the state, with a 12th planned for Danbury.
"Connecticut has been a perfect home for Robeks," said Katrina Bickford, regional director for Robeks. "People here appreciate having a fast meal option that's very healthy."
Robeks plans to accelerate its growth by adding more locations in Connecticut and expanding into Westchester County, N.Y. The franchise's plans accompany a series of menu innovations that have drawn new customers: a new kale smoothie called Tropi-KALE Paradise which tastes like a Granny Smith apple; an expanded fresh vegetable and fruit juice menu; and smoothies made with Greek yogurt.
Robeks offers entrepreneurs a business model that matches several emerging trends in the food industry.
Millions of Americans are responding to the nation's obesity and other health crises by adopting more natural diets that substitute fruits and vegetables for processed food. Nationwide smoothie sales doubled from 2007 to 2011, reaching $2.4 billion.
Robeks offers a fast, convenient and tasty alternative to typical fast-food meals. Its smoothies and juices use naturally ripened fruits and vegetables that retain nutrients and live enzymes and natural flavor.
"Robeks offers a wide variety of healthy options whether you're an athlete using your diet to achieve peak performance, someone who appreciates a healthy alternative to the typical fast food meal, or you just want something delicious," said Robeks President and CEO Steve Davidson. "Robeks smoothies and juices don't just taste good, they are good. We've succeeded by delighting customers and winning their trust through our devotion to nutrition and improving the health of our communities."
