LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/12 -- Audyssey, a leader in audio technology for the personal, automotive, mobile and theater markets, today announced its partnership with Songza, a free music service that streams the perfect playlist for whatever you're doing (from waking up to sleeping, from working out to getting through the work day). Songza is exclusively debuting the new Audyssey Media Player (AMP) Technology, designed to improve the music experience for listeners on virtually any pair of headphones. AMP Technology acts as a gateway between the user's Songza playlist and their headphones, sending the optimal signal designed specifically for their headphones of choice. Now users can enjoy the full potential of their headphones while streaming on their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
"Every pair of headphones is unique," said Audyssey CTO, Chris Kyriakakis. "They have different fits and hardware specs. But music players still send them the same music signal; they don't know the difference. With AMP Technology, your player knows your headphones and optimizes your music for them. Songza users will immediately hear the difference."
In addition to unlocking the potential of the user's headphones, AMP Technology adjusts its signal according to the volume level. This ensures rich sound no matter how loudly or softly the music is playing. The technology uses none of the listener's data plan to work. The Songza upgrade gives the user a much higher level of performance from their headphones, representing a significant and affordable advancement in headphone audio.
"With superior sound quality and no increase in data plan usage, AMP Technology offers an exciting new way to delight our users," said Elliott Breece, chief product officer of Songza. "The Audyssey partnership is a big step forward in our mission to make the things our users do every day better."
The Songza App, featuring HQ audio powered by Audyssey, is available from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.
AMP Technology is available as an SDK through Audyssey. It can be applied to apps, games, in-device media players and in the firmware of the mobile device itself. Contact Audyssey Laboratories for more questions about its potential implementation.
