NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 12/18/12 -- TechMediaNetwork, Inc., one of the fastest-growing technology and science media companies in the world, today announced the appointment of former CBS Interactive, CNET and WebMD executive Greg Mason as Chief Executive Officer. With deep expertise in digital publishing and technology media, Mason will lead the continued growth of TechMediaNetwork's roster of award-winning technology and science web properties.
As CEO, Mason now oversees TechMediaNetwork's collection of owned and operated web brands, which combine to serve more than 38 million visitors per month. TechMediaNetwork's partner network also reaches upwards of 100 million consumers making TechMediaNetwork the fastest-growing technology news property today, currently ranked the third largest by comScore. Broad syndication agreements with major media partners, including Yahoo, CBS News, AOL, Fox News, and MSNBC extend the reach of their content even further.
"Greg brings the experience and vision needed to build upon TechMediaNetwork's already rapid growth," said Jerry Ropelato, founder and former CEO of TechMediaNetwork. "His twenty-plus years in technology media and digital publishing, along with a demonstrated history of product development and innovation success, make him the ideal candidate for leading the company to its next stage of growth."
Ropelato will continue in an operational role and will serve as Chairman of TechMediaNetwork's board of directors.
"I'm thrilled to join the TechMediaNetwork team at such an exciting time," said Mason. "The company is ending 2012 with exceptional levels of growth in audience, revenue and profitability. I look forward to building on TechMediaNetwork's strong platform as a leading online publisher in the technology and science verticals and growing the business both through continued organic expansion and strategic acquisitions."
Previously, Mason was Executive Vice President of Consumer Services at WebMD. Prior to WebMD, Mason spent eleven years with CBS Interactive and CNET Networks (acquired by CBS in 2008) where he held a variety of operational roles, culminating in the leadership of the entire technology and news portfolio, including CNET, ZDNet, TechRepublic, and CBSNews.com. Prior to CNET, Greg spent a combined eleven years with Ziff Davis and International Data Group (IDG) in various publisher, sales, and sales management roles.
