CES BOOTH #1101--Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. today released new versions of its popular MIXTRAX™ music management software and MIXTRAX App for iPhone® devices. Available at no cost, the latest edition of the MIXTRAX software adds a new “Mix Creator” feature that enhances and simplifies the process of creating a nonstop mix of a user’s entire music library for playback on a variety of worldwide Pioneer car audio products, and STEEZ products designed for the dance community. Pioneer’s updated version of the MIXTRAX App music player made for the iPhone let users create a nonstop mix from the music libraries currently stored in their devices. The app analyzes the tempo and beat of tracks that are similar in style and identifies the best transition points for each track for seamless music playback.
“The creation of the MIXTRAX technology comes from Pioneer’s expertise in the DJ industry,” said Hideki Ono, vice president of product planning for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Whether it’s through the PC software or the app, consumers can enjoy their own music in an entirely different way.”
MIXTRAX Software
The new MIXTRAX software analyzes each track and displays the music information in three types of blocks to enable users to specify the playback range and mixing parameters. Users can also switch the display mode for more precise settings and music editing. Two types of crossfade settings and eight types of effect settings are also available. The mix of tracks can then be saved to a PC or Mac computer as MP3 or WAV files, as well as transferred onto a USB memory device or compatible Pioneer device, such as a STEEZ music player, for playback. In addition to nonstop music mixing capability, the newest version of the software adds a new “Mix Creator” function for unique mixes using portions of tracks (listeners’ favorite parts of their songs).
Additional MIXTRAX software changes include faster startup and music analysis for Windows® users, and the addition of the Create/Edit mix style and Rhythm Sequencer functions on the Mac® OS version. The Create/Edit mix is used to change the playback length of a track (four partial length selections available). The Rhythm Sequencer is used to create rhythm patterns.
Pioneer products featuring MIXTRAX technology include:
- In-dash Multimedia Receivers: AVH-X8500BHS (2013 model) and AVH-P8400BH (2012 model)
- STEEZ Dance Gear: Crew, Duo and Solo
MIXTRAX App
Pioneer’s updated version of the MIXTRAX App, accessible at http://www.mixtrax-global.com/mixtraxapp.php, adds a cool new feature called Magic Mix. The selectable function, accessible on the main screen, automatically analyzes and finds music samples from the iTunes® Store that are similar to the currently playing track. It then mixes in excerpts from the streaming samples to create a nonstop mix.* Users can add brand new music to their libraries by simply scrolling through the recommended artists and albums and purchasing from the iTunes Store.
The app also features Link Gate and Mix Playlist functionalities. With a touch of the currently playing cover art, Link Gate is activated and displays five options for music playback: Artist, Genre, Tempo, Year, and All. In addition, the app automatically creates a Mix Playlist of the user’s library providing 11 variations of playlists (including five factory recommended playlists) for nonstop music playback. Users are given five additional recommended Mix Playlists such as Beat, Chill, Thump, Distortion and High to match their music preferences.
The MIXTRAX App for iPhone is available from the App Store for $3.99. Current MIXTRAX app users can update to the latest version at no additional cost.
