LOS ANGELES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/09/13 -- MediSwipe Inc. (www.MediSwipe.com) (OTCQB: MWIP), a patient security solutions and financial products company for the health care industry, announced today that the Company has launched "GetRx" Mobile in cooperation with 800 Commerce Inc. The new mobile texting application for iPhones and Androids allows doctor appointment setting and prescription assistance for medical dispensaries and pharmacies located throughout the states of Michigan and California with additional states to be added to the platform over the next few weeks. The free consumer health care app enables patients who suffer from diseases including glaucoma, nausea, cancer, migraines, Crohn's disease, MS, and numerous other illnesses access doctors by zip code, and allows them to make an appointment, confirm time and receive access to medical care and prescriptions all through the GetRx application.
The GetRx mobile app from MediSwipe requires no download, no lengthy browsing of websites, or charges from directory assistance. Users simply text MY800 or "69800" with the key word "DOCTOR" in the subject line, choose their state, time of preference and receive choices of recommended doctors in those regulated jurisdictions.
MediSwipe will receive up to $20.00 as an appointment setting fee from each participating physician on the GetRx application as well as text messaging fees for prescription alerts and appointment reminders from participating physicians within regulated jurisdictions.
"Now more than ever, patients want increased access to medical providers. The mobile appointment request feature on GetRx allows qualified patients in legal jurisdictions to quickly and conveniently request an appointment with licensed physicians directly from the application, and receive an immediate response. More people are relying on their smartphones for information 24/7, and MediSwipe is committed to providing innovative solutions and resources to better manage their health care," stated B. Michael Freidman. "The GetRx appointment setting tool will provide a valuable service to new patients in legal jurisdictions seeking information on how to find a certified physician to write a medicinal prescription, filing paperwork and fees with the states to receive a patient id card, and locating a reliable and recommended pharmacy or dispensary when they have an immediate medical need," further stated Freidman.
With regard to the S-1 filing of 800 Commerce, it is anticipated that the response to the second round of comments with the SEC will be filed within the next five days. Once we have approval to do so, we will at that time set the record date for all shareholders of record of MediSwipe to receive the dividend share as a result of the distribution of the 800 Commerce shares we own. We are pleased to state that 800 Commerce continues to post record numbers in revenues and we expect to exceed one-hundred million in gross processing volume in 2013 through existing accounts. This number excludes what we expect from our directory portals my800doctor.com and our new launch of my800lawyer.com in March 2013.
"Lastly, I would like to thank our shareholders for their support and confidence in management and the further execution of our short and long-term business plan. I would also like to mention our new corporate headquarters office address in Michigan which is now:
Columbia Center II
101 West Big Beaver Road
