SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - January 15, 2013) - A Sacramento personal injury attorney, John Demas, is offering a "Green Apple Award" to help teachers purchase school supplies. Each week, an exceptional teacher from the school systems of Citrus Heights, Davis, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Rocklin, Roseville, Sacramento, West Sacramento and Woodland is chosen by nomination and receives a $100 gift card to buy supplies for the classroom.
Attorney John Demas is pleased to announce the continuation for 2013 of the "Green Apple Award" program, a successful and popular award given to outstanding teachers in the Sacramento area.
Each week, Mr. Demas takes nominations for the Green Apple Award and gives a $100 gift card to the winner for use in purchasing school supplies for the classroom.
The rules are as follows:
- Nominations will be made only during the school year.
- Each teacher or classroom is eligible for one award per academic school year.
- Teachers can be nominated by themselves or by colleagues, administrators, parents, or students.
- Eligible teachers must work in public schools in the State of California and in the following counties: Citrus Heights, Davis, Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Rocklin, Roseville, Sacramento, West Sacramento and Woodland.
- Teachers will be eligible to win only once per school year.
John Demas chose the Green Apple Award Program to help teachers after he discovered that many teachers were paying for school supplies out of their own pockets. Between 2009 and 2011, teachers in the United States spent more than $1.33 billion on supplies and instructional materials, money that was not budgeted for their classrooms and which came out of their own earnings.
John Demas notes, "The Green Apple Award Program is one small way that we as a community can say 'thank you' to our teachers. In these days of budget cuts and spiraling costs, teachers are often forced to make do with little to nothing while expected to produce great results. Giving teachers an award to buy school supplies will not change the overall budget problems that continue to plague our school systems, but it will allow us to show individual teachers that we care and that we support them in their efforts to challenge and shape young minds."
Demas Law Group welcomes nominations for the Green Apple Award Program and hopes that teachers, parents, and students will take advantage of this opportunity to nominate quality teachers for recognition and a small token of thanks for all they do for our families and communities.
