JUKE moves into Scandinavia with the launch of YouSee Musik, a new Danish music service powered by the JUKE streaming service.
This launch has historical significance. Five years ago, the TDC Group (comprised of Danish telco TDC and cable subsidiary, YouSee) launched the joint music service, TDC Play and YouSee Play in Denmark with 24-7 Entertainment providing the technical solution. This was the world‘s 1st unlimited digital music service offered to mobile and broadband subscribers at no additional cost. The business model behind the service has since been copied by other digital music services and telcos worldwide.
YouSee has now forged its own path; merged with mobile operator, Onfone and launched a new, music streaming service called YouSee Musik which is powered by the JUKE streaming service. Both YouSee and Onfone customers will receive unlimited access to more than 18 million tracks via web and mobile devices: iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod) and Android. Since YouSee Musik is hard bundled into mobile and broadband contracts, there will be no additional charge to use the music service. The service is available as of now on smartphones, tablets and iPods and will be available soon via the web.
"Today music is consumed in very large doses via mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, so we are thrilled that we can now offer a state-of-the-art music service to our broadband and mobile customers.“, says Anders Blauenfeldt, Senior Vice President, YouSee.
YouSee Musik is incredibly user friendly and the audio quality is unbeatable, featuring the Dolby® Pulse format, an audio codec that has been specifically developed to deliver high sound quality at low bit rates. The App automatically detects if a smartphone or tablet is connected to a YouSee broadband connection, so you do not have to log-in to get access to the music. Additionally, music can be saved automatically on the device, so you have the opportunity to take your music collection on the road and off-line.
"YouSee Musik is a very exciting new entry into the Scandinavian streaming music market for JUKE. YouSee and TDC have been ground-breaking partners of 24-7 Entertainment for many years. Together, we jointly pioneered an important change in how music is consumed, so we are excited that YouSee chose our unique JUKE experience for their customers", says Frank Taubert, CEO & Co-Founder, 24-7 Entertainment / JUKE.
