SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/01/13 -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department has partnered with SportStream, a social second-screen experience for sports fans, to release a customized stream of social media and news content tailored to U-M fans just in time for Saturday's matchup against the Indiana University Hoosiers. The stream can be accessed at mgoblue.com/sportstream.
U-M's custom social stream, powered by SportStream, will deliver the most relevant Facebook, Twitter and news content as it relates to the teams and student-athletes. Fans will receive a comprehensive view of every game that allows them to enjoy all the best commentary. The live feed is accessible not just during games, but anytime to keep Michigan fans the most informed in the country.
"The University of Michigan Athletic Department prides itself on providing one of the most robust social presences in college athletics. We've built a Facebook page that reaches more than a million fans and Twitter community that reaches over 250,000 fans. We're constantly looking for ways to enhance our resources to follow our teams and games," said Jordan Maleh, Director of Digital Marketing for U-M Athletics. "There can be a lot of clutter and noise as it relates to social media and stats. SportStream perfects the task of gathering and streamlining the information that Michigan fans really want to know."
The new customized feed will allow Michigan athletics fans to:
- Keep up with the fast-paced social media conversations around every game
- See only the relevant social media and news content centered around specific games, which SportStream filters through semantic analysis
- See all social media and news content as it relates to the opponent during games
"It doesn't get much better than kicking off your college partnership program with the #1 basketball team in the country, or one with such a storied and historically strong athletic program as the University of Michigan," said Bob Morgan, CEO and co-founder of SportStream. "More than that, it's clear that the University of Michigan is a collegiate athletics leader in social media. We're excited to help take their already-outstanding social media presence to the next level and offer fans a great experience through this partnership."
SportStream recently partnered with the Seattle Seahawks to create a custom social feed for games. The SportStream consumer app also provides similar gametime streams for most pro and college football, basketball, baseball and hockey games. Download SportStream for iPhone or iPad here or access the web application here.
