Incase has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 8,328,008 for its innovative Book Jacket design for tablets. Granted on December 11, 2012, this patent, along with U.S. Patent No. 8,312,991 B2, details the invention of a tablet case that provides device protection and enhanced functionality through an integrated stand feature with multiple viewing positions built into the case design.

The Book Jacket has been a hallmark form in the Incase product offering since the release of the first-generation iPad. The case, first called the Convertible Book Jacket, was designed to enhance the iPad user experience by providing protection while supporting the various ways that the device is utilized. Lauded for its simple design, ease of use, and integrated stand functionality, the Book Jacket continues to be a market leader and has evolved into new forms that include the Book Jacket Revolution and the introduction of the same signature designs for iPad mini.
“The awarding of these patents is a testament to the creativity and expertise of the Incase design team,” said Incase CEO David Gatto. “The Book Jacket is a direct reflection of key Incase design principles of simplicity, intuitive functionality and innovation, and the patents bring official recognition to the originality of our product. Our mission has always been to bring a better experience through good design and we are committed to furthering this by delivering the highest-quality products that our customers have come to expect and deserve.”
The Book Jacket is available for iPad and iPad mini at Best Buy stores nationwide, select Apple authorized resellers and at goincase.com.
