According to the blogosphere and both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal the world is waiting for Apple to deliver a Dick Tracy-like wristwatch that mates with the iPhone and shows you the time, who’s calling, texting or e-mailing or directions to the address you’re looking for and saves you from pulling the phone out of your pocket – or from pulling out your wallet for that matter since it may contain a near-field communications chip.
For all anybody knows it may track the wearer’s vital signs or include BlueTooth and Siri.
Apple is supposedly talking to Foxconn about making such a widget and could be developing the thing using Corning’s flexible Willow Glass.
Fortune takes the news for a “coordinated leak.”
Google of course has its display-imbedded glasses that co-founder Sergei Brin tried out recently on the New York subway and that Google’s encouraging developers to write apps for.
The Times says Google hopes to see 3% of its revenues come from the glasses by 2015.
