BLUE BELL, Pa., Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), a longtime provider of high-volume messaging solutions to the world's leading telecommunications services providers, today announced the two newest members of the Unisys VoiceSource Express (VSE) family of communications platforms: the high-end VSE420 and the entry-level VSE46.
The VSE420 provides an ideal solution for large telecom providers serving tens of millions of subscribers, while the VSE46 is designed for smaller providers in regions where mobile use is rapidly expanding – especially Latin America and Africa.
The Unisys VSE communications solutions help telecommunications providers grow revenue by providing integration with social media networks, advanced call control and mobile advertising, among other key capabilities.
The solutions can also combine with Unisys Stealth Solution for cybersecurity to offer regional and international communications providers a secure, scalable, economical way to provide new value-added services to their consumer and enterprise customers.
"We continue to expand Unisys solutions to help telecom providers generate new revenue, while continuing to reduce cost per subscriber through powerful, highly scalable VSE systems," said Steven Chuey, vice president, Global Communications Solution Management, Unisys. "The new VSE420 platform provides scalability that our competitors are hard-pressed to match, while the new VSE46 provides the same cost-effective solution for smaller service providers. In addition, our innovative service development environment provides fast prototyping and testing so telcos can speed up the time-to-market for new subscriber services."
New Solutions Benefit from Advanced Architecture and Security Technology
Based on Unisys ClearPath server technology using powerful high-end members of the Intel® Xeon® Processor family, the VSE420 and VSE46 provide highly scalable, fully redundant solutions. The platforms significantly reduce footprint and power consumption, resulting in better data center performance per watt and lower operating expenses.
Each VSE420 server can support up to 8 million subscribers, and up to 24 million subscribers in a three-system cluster. Multiple VSE clusters enable support for far larger numbers of subscribers.
The VSE46 platform provides a cost-effective entry level system that supports up to 2.5 million subscribers per system. As with the VSE420, clustering provides the scalability required for growth.
The VSE420 and VSE46 platforms continue to provide Unisys' rich suite of messaging services, including visual voicemail for iPhone, Android, and Windows devices; advanced notification services such as Missed Calls and Call Me Now presence notification; Find Me/Follow Me for call delivery anywhere; Voice SMS and MMS services; voice-to-text translation of messages sent to subscribers via e-mail, SMS, MMS, social media sites or the web; and posting of messages to Facebook and Twitter from any mobile device.
The VSE solutions enable providers to add innovative features to services, such as automatic reverse call, reverse SMS, intelligent 0800 call routing, sponsor calls, mobile ad insertion and multi-channel broadcast/interactive marketing campaigns.
Providers can use Unisys Stealth Solution in conjunction with Unisys VSE solutions. Unisys Stealth conceals applications and associated information from hackers. Combining VSE with Stealth, providers can implement highly secure connectivity for sensitive applications and communities of interest – groups of people authorized to share information, with that information protected from unauthorized use by members of another community.

Unisys will showcase the new VSE solutions at Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain, February 25-28.
