Henderson, NV, March 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The tennisdata app, available in iTunes App Store (TM), gives tennis fans access to a huge array of statistics about their favorite player, current tournament, and all-up Tour stats. Mark Snyder, founder and CEO of tennisdata.net LLC, has brought his 20+ years of Fortune 100 IT consulting experience to the world of tennis.
"Corporations are great at creating terabytes of data; the challenge is in making sense of that data, learning more about your business or internal operations, and making that data available to your mobile, always connected consumers. That experience and lessons learned were integral in the creation of the this app."
The tennisdata app will allow tennis fans to enhance their enjoyment of the ATP tour; in seconds they can research a player's head-to-head record with his next opponent, see his win/loss record by playing surface, his win/loss record in his last 20 matches, his tiebreak record, and his best results at a tournament. Previously these stats were only available to the Tour employees and members of the tennis media. Over 45,000 matches, stretching back to 1998 and over 1,200 players are included in the app's database. This covers all of today's current players and the recently retired.
Since its launch, the app has been downloaded by fans in over 25 countries around the world. Fans at home watching matches on TV and fans in the stadiums have been able to review the latest tournament and player results. Because the data is in the Cloud, the users do not have to update the app.
Commenting on the cloud aspect of the app, Mark Snyder said, "Because the ATP tour travels to 63 cities in 31 countries, from Day 1, the tennisdata team knew this app had to be global in scope. Pre-launch, we successfully tested from London, New York, and Hong Kong. Last month, we traveled to Dubai to give the app its toughest test - over 7,000 from the server. In the stands at the ATP Masters 500 event, with thousands of fans, the tennisdata app still delivered sub-second response time."
The next round of enhancements are already on the drawing board. New features under consideration include an option to select from a list of the most popular and highly ranked players, Top 10 aggregates of major statistics, improvements in the display and readability of the results, and year to date tiebreak records. On the roadmap for the app, Mark Snyder explained:
"We receive email suggestions and meet with fans at tournaments; we value their feedback and are constantly looking to improve the user experience. And we value our users' privacy - we know the one thing that matters - our users are fans of the game of tennis."
