SCHILLER PARK, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/13 -- Most people don't realize that they're walking around with a personal fitness coach right in their pocket or purse. Life Fitness, global leader in commercial fitness equipment manufacturing, today announced its free LFconnect mobile app. From automatically tracking calories burned to accessing custom workouts, the app works seamlessly with Life Fitness treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and other cardio equipment to provide exercisers with meaningful workout results tracking to achieve their fitness goals. The app also features manual strength tracking and GPS.
The LFconnect app is an extension of the brand's LFconnect website, lfconnect.com, which allows users to choose their preferred workouts, fitness goals and machine settings from the comfort of their home so that personalized options can be instantly accessed at the gym. The first fitness equipment app available for both Apple iOS and Android mobile platforms, the LFconnect app will easily sync with any Life Fitness cardio equipment featuring an Engage or Discover Tablet Console, which can be found in approximately 4,500 gyms around the world. The app supports 11 languages. In addition, it is compatible with in-home Life Fitness cardio machines featuring a Track console and the entire Life Fitness Platinum Club Series line with Engage consoles.
"Our goal is to empower exercisers to meet their health goals and maximize their precious gym time," said Dan Wille, vice president global marketing and product development for Life Fitness. "The LFconnect app allows users to workout smarter by cutting down setup time and helping them get straight to the exact workout they desire. Once they hit their stride, the immediate gratification of seeing calories burned pushes them to meet their goals, and when done, their stats are automatically recorded on their smart phone."
Tracking Calories Burned, In Real Time
When plugged into compatible Life Fitness cardio equipment, the LFconnect app allows users to set their target goals and see calories burned in real time on their smart phone screen. As they workout, exercisers are also motivated by watching their "calories burned" meter fill up in real time.
Maximizing Personalized Training
To take training to the next level, exercisers can set up and save workout routines from home on the LFconnect website and quickly pull up the program via the app once they arrive at the gym. From choosing their favorite cardio machine and setting training intervals, to selecting a "calories burned" goal and training schedule, users can personalize workouts to best fit their preferences. They also have the option to share their results on Facebook and connect with friends via the app's buddy feature.
Exercisers also can take advantage of their personal trainer's expertise via the buddy feature, which allows trainers to customize and send personalized workouts to clients, who can then upload them right to the equipment at the gym. Trainers can set the target length of a workout and specific intervals, or even enter advanced targets such as calories burned and optimum heart rate. In addition, trainers can receive the workout results report after a workout is complete so they can keep their clients motivated and on track.
Beyond the Gym
For outdoor fitness, consumers can use the LFconnect app to track miles and time spent running outside with the GPS feature. Whether running outside or using strength equipment, users also have the option to manually enter workouts for additional tracking.
"LFconnect's unique integration features are just another example of how Life Fitness continues to lead in fitness equipment technology and innovation," said Wille.
LFconnect is available for download today in the Apple iTunes and Android Google Play app stores. Users must first set up their profile and preferences at www.lfconnect.com or register via the app. The new app replaces the previous Life Fitness Virtual Trainer app. The app and all of its features are free-of-charge. LFconnect will be on display at IHRSA, March 20-22, 2013, at the Life Fitness Booth #1248. For more information about the show, visit www.lifefitness.com/IHRSA.
