GameStop legt Ergebnisse für das erste Quartal 2014 vor

Die Einzelhandelskette GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME), die die beliebtesten Unterhaltungstechnologien auf erschwingliche und einfache Weise anbietet, hat heute die Umsatz- und Ertragszahlen für das am 3. Mai 2014 zu Ende gegangene erste Quartal vorgelegt.

Der globale Umsatz im ersten Quartal 2014 betrug insgesamt 2,0 Milliarden US-Dollar, was gegenüber den 1,87 Milliarden US-Dollar aus demselben Quartal im Vorjahr eine Steigerung um 7,0 Prozent darstellt. Der konsolidierte Umsatz bei vergleichbaren Geschäften nahm um 5,8 Prozent zu. Anhaltend starke Verbrauchernachfrage auf der ganzen Welt nach Xbox One von Microsoft und PlayStation 4 von Sony war der Haupttreiber für die starken Umsatzleistungen, und die Produktkategorie neue Hardware verzeichnete einen Anstieg von 81,1 Prozent gegenüber dem Vergleichsquartal aus dem Vorjahr.

Der Umsatz mit neuer Software ging im Verlauf des Quartals um 20,4 Prozent zurück. Trotz dieses Rückgangs bei neuer Software war bei gebrauchter/günstiger Software im Jahresvergleich eine Verbesserung von 5,3 Prozent zu verzeichnen. In der Kategorie Mobilgeräte und Unterhaltungselektronik, zu der auch Technologiemarken gehören, betrug der Anstieg über 100 Prozent.

Digitale Einnahmen stiegen um 9,5 Prozent (nicht GAAP-konform), angeführt von starken Umsätzen bei der digitalen Währung für Xbox One und PlayStation 4 sowie beträchtlichen Umsätzen im internationalen digitalen PC-Bereich.

Der Nettoertrag von GameStop betrug 68,0 Millionen US-Dollar, was im Vergleich zu einem Nettoertrag von 54,6 Millionen US-Dollar aus demselben Quartal im Vorjahr steht und einen Anstieg um 24,5 Prozent bedeutet. Der verwässerte Gewinn je Aktie betrug 0,59 US-Dollar, eine Steigerung um 28,3 Prozent gegenüber den 0,46 US-Dollar aus dem Vergleichsquartal des Vorjahres.

Im ersten Quartal tätigte GameStop einen Rückkauf von 1,33 Millionen Aktien für 52,2 Millionen US-Dollar.

Der Verwaltungsrat (Board of Directors) von GameStop beschloss zudem eine Bardividende in Höhe von 0,33 US-Dollar je Stammaktie für das Quartal, die am 17. Juni 2014 an diejenigen Aktionäre ausgeschüttet wird, die bei Geschäftsschluss am 4. Juni 2014 eingetragen sind.

Für das zweite Quartal des Geschäftsjahres 2014 geht GameStop von Umsätzen bei vergleichbaren Geschäften im Bereich von +12,0 bis +19,0 Prozent aus.

Der verwässerte Gewinn je Aktie dürfte im Bereich von 0,12 bis 0,20 US-Dollar liegen.

Für das Gesamtjahr 2014 hält das Unternehmen an der bereits angekündigten Prognose mit einem verwässerten Gewinn je Aktie im Bereich von 3,40 bis 3,70 US-Dollar fest. Der Umsatz bei vergleichbaren Geschäften dürfte im Gesamtjahr einen Zuwachs im Bereich von +6,0 bis +12,0 Prozent verzeichnen.
