Tango Launches Channels, a New Way to Discover Great Content and Bring It Into Your Conversations

Spotify, AOL, Dailymotion, Getty, 8tracks, 500px and Vevo to Be Among First Brands to Offer Content to Tango Users

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/10/14 -- For the times you want to share a great video, pass along an article, discover new music, or laugh with friends in a chat over funny photos, now there's an easier way to do it. Tango, a leader in mobile messaging, today announced the launch of Tango Channels, a new way to bring premier content into conversations from publishers, brands, and people they love -- all conveniently from within the Tango app.

Tango members can browse Channel categories such as Entertainment, News, Sports, Lifestyle, Humor, and Music. Partners at launch include Spotify; AOL, including Cambio, Huffington Post, TechCrunch, and StyleList; CheezBurger; Dailymotion; Getty; 500px; 8tracks Internet radio; WhoSay; and musical artists OK Go and Slash. In addition, a Vevo Channel on Tango will be coming soon. Tango is bringing on additional Channel partners, and will continue to build out and promote the exciting new offerings.

"Tango uniquely blends messaging, social discovery and content into one platform. This is a huge differentiation from all other messengers. Tango members now have even more exciting ways to connect with others through shared interests and premium content, whether it's talking about the latest viral video or last night's baseball game," said Uri Raz, founder and CEO of Tango. "We're thrilled to kick off Tango Channels with such an exciting set of content publishers and brands, enabling them to spark conversations on Tango."

Starting today, members can download the latest version of Tango to browse Channels, select favorite Channels to follow, and discover videos, photos and posts to share with other Tango members. Engagement with the content goes beyond likes and comments, as Tango members are able to drop the content right into a chat conversation with a friend or group of friends, and make the content part of personal communication.

"Brands are looking to foster conversations on emerging platforms, and messaging apps are a huge part of where that will take place in the future. Tango's audience proves that messaging is a phenomenon impacting every age group -- not just teens and college students," said Eytan Oren, Director of Partnerships at IPG Media Lab which released a 28-page study titled, Messaging Apps: The New Face of Social Media and What It Means for Brands. "Tango Channels are the most robust plug-and-play offering we've seen in the space, and a no-brainer opportunity for brands looking to join the conversation."

"Dailymotion is one of the leading video distribution platforms. As we expand our presence on mobile -- it make sense for us to look at messaging apps as a way to further engage our audiences. We look forward to having a Channel on Tango and entertaining users with premium Dailymotion videos," said John Cornett, Dailymotion's Publisher Network Director.

To get the latest version of Tango with Channels, download the app now on Google Play or the iTunes App Store.
