Downtown Berlin Marriott Hotel Fit for Guests of the Future

1,000Mbs of High Speed Internet, Convenient Mobile Check-In, and a Flexible 4K LED Video Wall to Address the Needs of Both Business and Leisure Travelers

BERLIN, GERMANY -- (Marketwired) -- 07/17/14 -- The Berlin Marriott Hotel is now the most modern hotel in the capital. Offering the latest in leading-edge technology, guests of the Berlin hotel at Potsdamer Platz now have the option to easily check-in or out on their mobile devices, communicate in real-time with event planners via the new free app "Red Coat Direct," and experience faster internet service. The flexible 4K LED diagonal video wall stretches up to 4.19 meters and promises guests unlimited fun in the lobby. "With our innovations, we are well prepared for modern travelers who have high demands for technology savvy hotels and for those who work a lot on their smartphones, laptops, or tablets," explains Hansjoerg Schneider, General Manager of the Berlin Marriott Hotel.

The convenient mobile check-in and check-out services at the Berlin Marriott Hotel will spare guests long wait times. At 4pm, the day before arrival, guests will receive a push notification on their smartphone or any Apple or Android device, to notify them when check-in is available. Upon arrival, the fully coded key can be conveniently picked up at the express counter, saving guests' time. On the day of departure, the app informs guests via another push notification that they may check out on their mobile devices. The invoice will then be sent via email. All Marriott Rewards members can experience this new service with a new free app.

For even faster surfing, the Berlin Marriott Hotel now offers a broadband Internet connection with 1,000Mbs. It allows for larger downloads and it will not slow down in speed -- even with the simultaneous use of many guests. "We have seen our guests' growing need for a fast and powerful Internet and responded immediately," explains Schneider on the new offer. "Our guests work a lot with their mobile device. Thus, a fast Internet is of course indispensable," Schneider said. The new Internet connection is also used for communication within the Berlin hotel. Conference guests can now easier connect to their event planners by using the free conference app, Red Coat Direct. They can send requests to adapt their event in real time without leaving the meeting rooms of this forward-thinking Berlin hotel.

Furthermore, in the lobby, -- the 'Great Room' of the hotel -- innovations await guests. Four flexible HD 75-inch Samsung TVs deliver a top TV experience. Pushed together, the TVs provide a large screen of 152 inches -- the ideal screen for corporate presentations and videos. Public viewing and TV broadcasts are also available in 16x9 formats on three screens combined. To offer its guests this unique entertainment experience, the Berlin Marriott Hotel has brought in the support from the Cologne-based companies TASCAN System and atmosphere media. Both are responsible for the professional content production, project planning, subsequent implementation, installation of the screens, and the atmosphere4k system. The Berlin Marriott Hotel presents the world's first 4K Ultra High Resolution entertainment platform with music and movies. The selection includes live music shows, films of fascinating landscapes, and natural wonders as well as graphic animations -- all specially produced by the atmosphere4k system. The easy-to-use 4K multi-channel technology allows for a synchronous play on four separate video streams -- all four HD screens are from Samsung.

"Our new offerings in the technical field strengthen our position as one of the most innovative and most modern hotels in Berlin," says Schneider. The Berlin Marriott Hotel just completed last year's extensive renovations as part of Marriott's global campaign "Travel Brilliantly". The focus of the new campaign is the traveler of the future -- people that blend work and leisure together, and which particularly value style, quality and communication technology. Equipped with the latest technology and located in the heart of Berlin right at Potsdamer Platz, close to Brandenburg Gate and Gendarmenmarkt, the Berlin Marriott Hotel is ideally positioned for these brilliant master blenders.

For IoT to grow as quickly as analyst firms’ project, a lot is going to fall on developers to quickly bring applications to market. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Mike Weiner, Product Manager of the Omega DevCloud with KORE Telematics Inc., discussed the evolving requirements for developers as IoT matures and conducted a live demonstration of how quickly application development can happen when the need to comply wit...

How should your organization enhance its IT framework to enable an Internet of Things implementation? In his session at @ThingsExpo, James Kirkland, Red Hat's Chief Architect for the Internet of Things and Intelligent Systems, described how to revolutionize your archit...
MuleSoft has announced the findings of its 2015 Connectivity Benchmark Report on the adoption and business impact of APIs. The findings suggest traditional businesses are quickly evolving into "composable enterprises" built out of hundreds of connected software services, applications and devices. The Internet of Things is not only adding billions of sensors and billions of terabytes to the Internet. It is also forcing a fundamental change in the way we envision Information Technology. For the first time, more data is being created by devices at the edge of the Internet rather than from centralized systems. What does this mean for today's IT professional? In this Power Panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed this very serious issue of profound change in the industry.
Discussions about cloud computing are evolving into discussions about enterprise IT in general. As enterprises increasingly migrate toward their own unique clouds, new issues such as the use of containers and microservices emerge to keep things interesting. In this Power Panel at 16th Cloud Expo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, panelists addressed the state of cloud computing today, and what enterprise IT professionals need to know about how the latest topics and trends affect their organization.
It is one thing to build single industrial IoT applications, but what will it take to build the Smart Cities and truly society-changing applications of the future? The technology won’t be the problem, it will be the number of parties that need to work together and be aligned in their motivation to succeed. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Jason Mondanaro, Director, Product Management at Metanga, discussed how you can plan to cooperate, partner, and form lasting all-star teams to change the world and it starts with business models and monetization strategies.
