As consumers increasingly conduct mobile searches for maps and driving directions, YellowSpaces Inc., a local search engine focused on accurate searches, announced iLPS(TM) today -- a new local search application designed for the iPhone and iPod touch. iLPS gives users a hand-held Local Positioning System when they are away from their desktops or laptops.
Available in Apple's App Store as a free application, iLPS delivers maps and directions with one tap, quickly helping consumers get where they need to go. Mobile searchers using iLPS are presented a map view first, allowing them to decide on which business location they want based on its proximity to them. Once a selection is made, additional business details, e.g., phone number, address, Web site, are shown, along with driving, biking or walking directions.
"It's as if you have your car's Global Positioning System in your hands," says Constantin S. Manta, founder and principal officer of YellowSpaces. "Just think of iLPS -- as a Local Positioning System or a local GPS. More current and certainly more comprehensive than the Yellow Pages with one tap, iLPS delivers maps and directions with specific details about its proximity to the user for the busy mobile searcher. There isn't another iPhone application offering the depth of relevant results or the speed of iLPS."
According to BIA's The Kelsey Group, the U.S. mobile search advertising revenues will grow from $39 million in 2008 to $2.3 billion by 2013, a compound annual growth rate of 125 percent. "iLPS has an intuitive interface and set of features that will be important attracting users in the quickly crowding mobile app marketplace," said Michael Boland, program director, mobile local media, The Kelsey Group. "The built-in browser, mapping and predictive search stand out as its signature features."
iLPS for the iPhone and iPod touch is a free download available now at the Apple App Store.
YellowSpaces also offers a mobile site -- http://m.yellowspaces.com/ -- offering consumers with a smartphone direct access to the company's comprehensive local search engine.
